I don’t mind not knowing, but I can’t stand not asking.

The record needle hits the groove wrong;
he stumbles over words that aren’t there,
rummaging for an answer he doesn’t really have.
He doesn’t write poetry anymore
and his confusion is strangely endearing.

But there’s a lyricism to his words that I love,
poetic lines inserted between the daily grind
of character names and who said what;

wind playI open the door a couple of inches and release the handle. I turn to my right to grab the trash. I hear metal slamming into metal.

Wtf was that?

I look at my door. I see a metal door a pale grey, so pale it almost looks white. There's a window to the left of the door in a white plastic sill. They're about 10ft away; both firmly attached to the room across from mine. There's light grey concrete a foot or so in front of me. I stand there dumbstruck.

Wtf did my door go? Holy shit. Did it just blow off the hinges?

I look up where the chain is attached to both the door and the frame. It's snapped.

I walk outs

weather mockingTwo steps outside and I can already feel the sheen of sweat materialize. I sense there is something different about the light for this time of day and I look at the patch of sky in front of me; it's a dull bluish-grey. I turn and walk out past the building I've just left and look to the south—charcoal grey. I look to my right, to the west, where there should be a colorful light display of a near setting Sun; I see only more dull bluish-grey, only duller and greyer than the sky to the east. I continue walking. There's a storm coming.
